"Oh the antics of squirrels. They provide endless entertainment through their peculiarities . The one in question this morning is a mother squirrel. I don't know the birthing cycles of squirrels, but surely this is too late in the year for it? However, this squirrel journeys back and forth carrying branches and twigs the size of her body. She always climbs up a brick wall and into a hole where the roof meets the wall. I suppose she is building a nest.At the same time, squeaks and the scrabbling of claws on bark issue from a tree as three squirrels chase each other, whether in play or not I do not know. They scurry up and down branches, spring from branch tip to branch tip all the while making ridiculous screeching noises. One of these three had a run in earlier with the mother squirrel. He foolishly went running after her. She tensed up and tried to look intimidating. But I think he quit pestering her out of boredom instead of fright. She made sure he was gone, though, before continuing to her nest. And she hasn't come out since."
Until next time!
