Speculative Scribblings: Snow

“Papa, why did you name me Snow when there is no snow here?”

I was only six when I asked that of my father, but even now so many decades later I remember his answer.

“Snow is beautiful and so are you. But more importantly, snow is a symbol of hope for our planet. We need to keep that hope near and cherish it.”

Welcome to 2021 and the beginning of Volume 2 of Speculative Scribblings! I had this particular story prepped for December of last year but it ended up delayed till this month which worked out beautifully as today my city had it's first snowfall forecasted! Perfect matching of the theme as we don't get snow here very often.

Here's hoping 2021 has just as much hope as the snow brings in this story. Hope is definitely something we all need considering present events.

Anthology of Speculative Scribblings: Last Resort Part 5

"Miklin sighed and scrubbed at his face. “I know, it was stupid, but I felt I couldn’t do nothing. Every night I returned home to see my crippled sister and it drove me crazy. So, I gathered information on the accident and the account discrepancies and I realized I had enough to seriously hurt the business if I played my cards right."

NaNoWriMo 2020: Day 10

 

Just barely missed hitting 40k today (which would have been the on target goal actually) because I ran out of time to write. Oh well. Only 10k to go!

Day 10: 5,150

Total words for NaNoWriMo so far: 39,436

Total words in novel so far: 91,730

NaNoWriMo 2020: Day 9

Day 9: 3,396

Total words for NaNoWriMo so far: 34,286

Total words in novel so far: 86,580

 

I'm getting closer to the finish line. Looks like I'll slide over 100k in the novel before hitting 50k for the month. This is definitely turning out to be the longest novel I have ever written and there's no end in sight.

NaNoWriMo 2020: Days 7-8

 

Day 7: 93

Day 8: 3,572

Total words for NaNoWriMo so far: 30,890

Total words in novel so far: 83,184

So after a week of pretty much not getting anything written, I finally managed to get back into the groove. Spent a few hours today planning out the rest of "volume 3" so now I have a clearer idea of where I'm going. I have the week off so now it's time to push for that last 20k.

"He closed the door behind him and locked it securely. Thieves were common in this portion of the station, but they rarely did more than check for unlocked doors. He hoped that they wouldn’t steal from the dropbox if other packages arrived before his return. Miklin didn’t have a hope, however, for his job hunt today."

NaNoWriMo 2020: Days 4-6

 

My new temporary job started this week but unexpectedly we had quite
a bit of downtime at the beginning of the job so I managed to write quite a bit yesterday and today. Add to that an unexpected day off for writing on Tuesday and I've managed to write more than planned this week.

Day 4: 5,211

 

Day 5: 2,393

 

Day 6: 1,004

 

Total words for NaNoWriMo so far: 27,226

 

Total words in novel so far: 79,519

Halfway mark accomplished~ And I'm so close to 80k overall. Yay!

I meant to blast past 20-25k this first week buuuut just not enough motivation. But today I certainly had motivation! Still, next session should cross that 20k mark. Possibly even 25k if I have the time on that day.
